Halo stalwart class frigate2/18/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() Lockheed-Martin - Freedom-Class derivativeĪnnounced this year the DoD has selected Lockheed-Martin's FFG(X) concept to proceed with in order to build a new lethal small surface combatant able to perform CSG escort alongside the Arleigh Burke Flight IV and DD(X) destroyers, Lockheed has proposed the following as the specifications for the FFG(X):Ģ x Rolls-Royce MT30 36 MW (48,000 hp) gas turbines, 2 x Colt-Pielstick 16PA6B 6.8 MW (9,100 hp) diesel engines, 4 Rolls-Royce waterjets Huntington Ingalls - No presented concept The littoral combat ship program has provided the USA with two capable vessels designed with protection and lethal engagement of enemy vessels within the littoral coastline area, it has been noted by senior naval officers that the LCS performs incredibly well in areas such as the Persian Gulf however with the Oliver Hazzard Perry class now retired there is no longer any capable blue-water frigate in service with the USN, as such in 2017 the Navy Secretary issued tender for a brand new frigate of which five groups were awarded a contract to design a concept for the FFG(X): ![]() The Pentagon, Arlington, Virginia, United States ![]()
